[No.35-053-CM] Bovine Calf Serum, Iron-Fortified, US Origin

Why Choose Corning Bovine Calf Serum?

Quality is the number one priority for Corning.  All Coning Bovine Calf Serum is collected under direct supervision of Corning using Corning’s strict collection protocol to ensure the highest quality serum.  This ensures we can meet our very strict endotoxin level of 10 EU/mL, and hemoglobin levels of less than 25 mg/dL. All Corning bovine calf serum is collected in USDA inspected facilities in the United States and is derived from healthy cattle that have passed ante- and post-mortem inspection and were found free of contagious diseases. Other companies only filter their Bovine Calf Serum through a 0.2 micron filter.  Corning goes above this industry standard and triple 0.1 micron sterile filters all of our Bovine Calf Serum.  These are the same filters that we use on our FBS and provide a Sterility Assurance Level (SAL) of 10-3. In addition to USP <71> and EP 2.6.1 sterility testing, all lots must test negative for mycoplasma.Iron Fortification Cattle are often fed a low iron diet. To counter the iron deficiency found in the serum, all of Corning’s Bovine Calf Serum is Iron Fortified to bring the iron back to naturally occurring levels.  We specify that iron saturation must be between 70% and 80%.  Total Iron Binding Capacity and Percent Iron Saturation are reported on every Certificate of Analysis.
